The 3 Anti-Aging Pitfalls You Must Avoid If You Want to Look Ten Years Younger

Many resources are available to anyone who wants to appear ten or more years younger. These days, it seems like every other ad is for a novel anti-aging cream or surgical procedure that promises to do something spectacular for your skin.

But there are three anti-aging traps you need to know about before you try that ground-breaking product or attend that hot new medical day spa. If you fall into one of these traps, you may undermine your outcomes without realizing it, even if you use the best products available.

First Anti-Aging Fallacy: Not Caring Enough About Aging or Being Completely Acceptant of It

You may be wondering, “Passion for anti-aging?” Anti-aging is a subject that fascinates me. Why do you believe I drop a thousand bucks a year on this stuff and that?

Let’s get something straight: the number of anti-aging products you purchase or the frequency with which you see a plastic surgeon have zero bearing on your dedication to looking ten years younger. The drive for anti-aging research begins in mind:

For instance, the first item that enters my mind daily is anti-aging. To maintain my youthful appearance and vitality, I always read up on and try new approaches. I find it fascinating, and not a day goes by when I don’t consider ways to slow down the aging process and make myself appear ten years younger.

I know that anti-aging probably isn’t the first thing on anyone’s mind upon waking. The list of responsibilities is endless: getting the kids to school, getting to work, and paying the expenses.

However, genuine anti-aging success necessitates a personal investment.

Why?

Because the brain is the starting point for any endeavor, whether it be a desire to appear ten years younger, shed ten pounds, or land a new job. When you decide to do something, your intellect goes into overdrive, coming up with ways to make it happen. The engine powering this operation is pure enthusiasm. If you care about a concept, you’re likelier to see it come true.

Unfortunately, efforts to slow down time or make one appear ten years younger lose steam rather quickly. This is due to the widespread belief that few effective strategies exist for preserving one’s youthful appearance. They assume that, once they mature, their only choices are surgical ones (plastic surgery) or non-surgical ones (Botox). Thus, we arrive at the next age-defying snare:

Second anti-aging snare: excessive use of cosmetic surgery and procedures.

At 48, this woman I encountered had a plastic surgery addiction. Her visage was firm and wrinkle-free. Her forehead, eye areas, and lips all looked fresh and young. What, though? The ten years hadn’t erased her appearance. She appeared like a 48-year-old who had undergone extensive plastic surgery.

Even when she smiled, her visage looked like a mask. Many famous people sport this style. (Courtney Cox, Nicole Kidman, Joan Rivers). Perhaps that’s why some view it as the most effective anti-aging strategy. It’s human nature to try to live up to one’s heroes.

I no longer have any qualms about cosmetic enhancement. Plastic and cosmetic surgery has gone a long way in helping people all over the world look and feel younger in the past decade. Perhaps that’s the crux of the issue. As the price dropped, it went from being a last recourse to the first option for fixing a problem. You won’t appear ten years younger if you get too much cosmetic work done. However, doing so will make you appear unnatural and cosmetic surgery obsessed.

Anti-aging Mistake #3: Having Inadequate Goals

When I question women about what they hope to accomplish by taking care of their appearance, the answers I get fall along these lines:

I hope to maintain a youthful appearance.

The only thing I can think to say in response is, “Why?”

I support your efforts if looking your age is essential to you, whether you’re 30 or 50. You could probably reach your objective in months if you haven’t done so already. A word of caution, though:

Never will four college students misgender you at a sporting event because you look like a coed. You can forget about trying to pass off a miniskirt as “age appropriate.” (I hate to resort to that cliche. I find it repulsive, but that’s material for another piece. You will never go for a run and be approached by three teenagers on bicycles, curious as to which university you attend.

Why? Simply saying, “You look good for your age,” is not an adequate standard. You appear great for your age, but that’s about it. You throw pretty well for a girl; it’s the same thing. The goal is to appear suitable all the time. It would be best to try to appear so young that people can’t compliment your appearance.

Many ladies I know over 40 looks young enough to be college students. Who can still look good in a bikini and sandals? And who is greeted by 17-year-old lads on motorcycles and scooters waving hello?

We’ve covered the bad news about the 3 Anti Aging Traps and how simple it is to stumble into them. Take a look at this citation:

To us, anti-aging is a way of life. My wife and I have long since decided not to mature. We resolved to take better care of ourselves by consuming nutritious foods, expanding our horizons, and experimenting regularly. Ultimately, though, what matters most is that we committed ourselves to this, and I think we’re doing okay.–From a guy of 52 and his wife of 46.

I recently encountered a married couple, whom I estimated to be in their mid-thirties, who said the above. The guy finally let me in on the secret that he was 52 and his wife was 46. Honestly, I was floored. Due to my preoccupation with anti-aging methods, I can typically guess people’s ages correctly. So, this completely caught me off, guard.

This pair passed for middle-aged in every way. And only 35 years of age. I couldn’t take my eyes off them; they were that fascinating.

How did they appear ten to fifteen years younger than they actually were? Could it be that they’ve had some cosmetic surgery?

They discussed their hygiene and cosmetic routines with refreshing honesty. There has been “zero Botox,” they assured me. Furthermore, I have not had any cosmetic procedures. They each get a skin exfoliation every six months to refresh their appearance. They consume only fresh fruits and veggies and zero processed foods. They stretch regularly to maintain their range of motion and agility, work out at least five times per week, and remain current on developments in the anti-aging field.

I found their story to be intriguing in its entirety, and it appeared that their strategy was bearing fruit. Their original quote, “My wife and I decided that we weren’t going to age,” kept returning to me.

One of the secrets to their longevity and youthful appearance is contained in that one sentence. They decided early on that they wouldn’t tolerate getting older, and from then on, they’ve been actively working against it. When they finally came to terms with that affirmation, everything else fell into position quickly.

That, indeed, is the secret to eternal youth and vigor. Having complete confidence that you can do it. Don’t get carried away with aesthetic or plastic surgery, and keep your sights low. You will be astounded at how rapidly your body and mind respond when you avoid these anti-aging pitfalls. In a few months, you could wake up appearing ten years younger.
